Veggies of the Week
Here's what we're harvesting this week. Enjoy!
September 30
With the shorter days and cooler nights, winter squash is at peak taste and sweetness. Enjoy the full selection!
Garlic Scapes
The flower bud of the garlic plant is known as a 'scape'. These thin, tender, vibrantly green seasonal delicacies have a beautiful, mild garlic flavor that can be used in a million ways from pesto to pickled. They are truly a gift of spring!
Green Garlic
Green garlic is young garlic harvested in early spring before the bulbs fully forms. It has a beautiful, mild garlic flavor, but as it has no cloves, it is used more like a scallion. Think Angel Hair Pasta with Green Garlic Cream Sauce or Garlic Dip or Fresh Peas with Lettuce and Green Garlic.
Red Butterhead Lettuce
We grow a variety called Alkindus. This is a beautiful and truly delicious lettuce. Sweet, buttery taste. Tender, yet crisp, deeply savoyed leaves. Dark red fringe that quickly transitions to a lime and chartreuse interior. My favorite.
