Green Anaheim Chili Pepper
2 Peppers. Beautiful elongated lime green chilis with mild, bright, sweet peppery flavor. 4 to 7 inches long. Can be used raw, roasted or sautéed. Try a very simply recipe of diced sautéed peppers and onions added to scrambled eggs. Wow, that's breakfast!
$1.50

Jalapeno
1/4 lb. Spice up your dishes or make a few 'poppers'. With seeds, they have some mild heat (about 3,500 - 8,000 Scoville units). With the seed removed, they are all flavor with just a touch of heat (about 1,000 Scoville units).
$2.50

Shishito Pepper
1/2 Pound (~20 to 25 peppers). Shishito peppers -- also known as kkwarigochu or "ground cherry pepper" in Korean -- are my favorite summer peppers. They have a mellow, slightly sweet and smoky flavor. One in 10 are blazing hot, making it a fun roulette game! Epicurious rates sautéed shishitos as "absolutely the best thing to nibble with drinks". I agree! Try this incredibly easy recipe. You won't be disappointed!
$3

Purple Sweet Bell Peppers
2 peppers. A stunningly beautiful purple bell pepper with a taste profile similar to a green pepper - crispy, crunchy, bright and complex. Beautiful fresh in a salad or anywhere you would use a green pepper but want a more colorful flair!

$3.50

Banana Peppers
1/2 lb. Very mild, tangy pepper that is traditionally pickled and used as a condiment. I also love them stuffed with Italian sausage. Wow!
$2

Hungarian Hot Wax Peppers
1/2 lb. These peppers start out yellow and mature to orange and red. Each stage is delicious. Very similar in size to banaba peppers, but with heat similar to jalapeño peppers. Traditionally sliced, pickled and served as a condiment.
$3

Green Okra
1 lb. Okra is a staple of Indian and African kitchens and should be a valued addition to most others. I know, I know - Okra? Really? Yes. Try this recipe for Bhindi Masala and you will become an instant fan. Fun fact: we use seed imported from India because we find this variety to be head and shoulders above anything we can source locally.
$3.50

Red Okra
1 lb. This BEAUTIFUL variety of okra is a delicious alternative to the traditional green. We supply this to the Indo-American grocery store in Acton and they sell out almost as fast as we can pick it!
$4

Gongura
0.5 lb bunch. Gongura is a member of the hibiscus family grown in India for its leaves. Although it is used in many dishes, it is most commonly used pickled. We sell tons of this specialty crop to our favorite Indian market in Acton, Indo-American Convenience. Be adventurous and give it a try! It's rich in iron, folic acid and anti-oxidants. This attached recipe is delicious!

$5

Husk Cherry
Pint (60-80 cherries). Also known as Ground Cherries and Cape Gooseberries, these small, pale orange fruits are wrapped in a beautiful husk 'balloon' that is peeled away and discarded. Their flavor is mild, sweet, fruity and completely unique. If you never tried them, you must. If you have, you know there is nothing like them. Eat them right out of the husk or try one of the recipes listed in the "Veggies of the Week" page - especially the honey goat cheese toast with husk cherry. Holy Cow - YUM.
$4.50

Pablano
6 Peppers. This mild chili originates from the state of Puebla, Mexico and is perfect for charing and stuffing - chorizo, queso, shrimp, chili, etc - a million possibilities! I also LOVE the recipe for grilled shrimp and poblano burgers available on the Veggies of the Week page.
$3

Beaver Dam Chili
1 lb (3-6 chilis). A Hungarian immigrant family (Hussli) arrived in 1912 bringing pepper seeds to of all places, Beaver Dam, WI... and the Beaver Dam pepper was born. The beaver dam pepper is a large, meaty and very colorful pepper. It is rated 500-1000 Scoville units but the heat slowly builds and sticks around, making this pepper a great addition to a variety of spicy dishes. At the same time it has a sweetness similar to a sweet paprika. These contrasts make it very versatile flavor to be used in goulashes, soups and stews, stuffed or grilled, in eggs. They are a great pickling pepper, retaining their colors beautifully. The beaver dam pepper made The Ark of Taste list of regionally unique and endangered foods across the world that are in jeopardy of extinction. We’re doing our best to save this pepper and spread the word!
